The national programme for the collection and conservation of genetic resources is linked to a number of sectoral development plans, such as the Estonian Research and Development and innovation strategy "knowledge-based Estonia 2014-2020" and the Estonian National Strategy for sustainable Development " Sustainable Estonia 21 ".
The programme is conducted in compliance with the sectoral development plans "Estonian rural development plan 2014-2020", "Estonian environmental strategy up to 2030" and "Conservation development plan until 2020".
Internationally, the programme is linked to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), the international agricultural crop Genetic Resources Agreement (ITPGRFA) and the Nagoya protocol.
