On June 5, after thorough renovation, the Estonian Crop Research Institute was re-introduced into the plant biotechnology, plant-genetics plant protection departments, and a renovated laboratory building of the Gene bank.
The Institute of Plant Protection and plant biotechnology, and the members of the gene bank for workers, also participated in this happy event, the Minister of Rural Affairs Arvo Aller and the chancellor Tiina Saron of the Ministry of Rural Affairs.
A demonstration trial was set up to better introduce the Institute of Plant Breeding's varieties to visitors. Visitors can get an overview of the varieties of grasses and legumes, winter and winter wheat, barley, oats, winter rye, peas, soybeans and winter rape bred at the institute.
Head of the Genebank of Estonian Crop Research Institute Külli Annamaa participates on the meeting of the International Advisory Panel of Svalbard Global Seed Vault.
Külli Annamaa has been appointed as a member of the Advisory Board of the Teravmägede Global Seed Bank 2020-2021.
The Advisory Board meeting was held on the Svalbard from 24 to 26 February 2020. Discussions were on the agenda on the activities and procedures of the Seed bank, on the implementation of new security measures and on improving public information.
Opening meeting for development of the "Programme for the conservation of plant genetic resources 2021+" takes place in the Polli Horticultural Research Centre of the Estonian University of Life Sciences on 30 January 2020.
