On 12 March, a heritage plant seed day was held in the village hall of Tuhalaane in Viljandi County. Külli Annamaa, Head of the Gene Bank of the The Centre of Estonian Rural Research and Knowledge, gave an overview of the activities of the Gene Bank in collecting, researching and preserving heritage plants.

50 gardening enthusiasts attended the event, while a large audience took part in the Seed Day via the internet.

Tiia Morfin (OÜ Vanaema Aed) donated 10 cultivars of wild chickpea she collected for propagation and preservation in the gene bank.

Participants showed great interest in the characteristics of the vegetable varieties of the Rural Konwledge Centre.
